My final circle scores
For reference, here are my final results. Remember that I finished Advanced 2,3 and everything afterwards on the last day. My wife and I have plans, so I'll catch you later.
This is the final marks of my official circles. I have no more time... and I wanna play chess. Thanks for reading.
Well, not entirely. Last night, I wasn't able to complete Circle #6 on time. As a result, this morning, I had to complete the remaining 200 problems. Today I have completed nearly 550 of the problems that are due for today, but life calls. I am bringing my journey to an end.
It is up to you guys whether or not I should be marked as a quitter or as a finisher. Doesn't matter too much to me. I'm exhausted, and I'll probably look at these problems that are remaining over the next week, but after 750 problems today, I'm done.
From now on, all of my posts will be covering games, and perhaps problems that I had a particularly difficult time completing. But, It's up to you guys, graduated, or not?
Thanks for reading.
Circle Six in Progress
Now comes the real challenge. Three days left, 2000 problems to do.
I'm not as excited as I should be. Don't have much to say.
Circle Five - Still Truckin'
Circle Three was the first circle that I finished on time, and Circle Four was completed a day early, seven days instead of eight. There was something that is not so alarming to note about this whole experience in these later rounds - headaches, big ones, during the tougher sessions.
I am now on Circle Five, and I'm working my way through. Started on Sunday, completing 350 problems, and I need to finish another 350 today to stay up with my goal of having 150 advanced problems on both Tuesday and Wednesday before the big challenge - Thursday & Friday 1000 problems total, with Saturday being the big finish.
What's really crazy is that I'm still showing higher scores despite the speed at which I'm being forced to complete these problems. I'm shocked that my current scores are higher than my last, although that is what is expected. My scoring system, as I noted, is particularly cruel, weighting heavily towards poor problems, less towards ones you do well at, but that can be dealt with by simply accepting improvement in scores.
After I am done, I will have a number of charts showing my results from various directions, so that I can get an idea of how I've done, and fortunately, I will have a list of my worst problems, which will give me an idea of what I need to study in the future (in fact, an entire tactical study plan, in a way).
Time Challenge - Circle #4
This is where things really get difficult, clearly.
I am on circle #4, and the challenge of the problems are really starting to slam me in these later areas, and taking a crack at them at high speed, while they are so difficult, seems to be taking its toll. I have completed most of the circle, but I have only three days left (although I would like to finish in the next two days).
I don't have a lot to say about what is going on here, Other than the fact that I am still quietly chugging along, doing my work. I hope to be able to post more interesting stuff when I do problems less and actually play chess more
. I have about one week to go, If I keep moving on as I currently am.
